Born in Athens, GA, in 1982, amidst the heyday of college rock, Billy Bennett comes from a place where people value hard work as well as deep artistic endeavor. After his record-setting football career at the University of Georgia and a very brief stint in the NFL, Bennett got his formal studio training as in intern at Chase Park Transduction from 2004-2006, under the tutelage of David Barbe. Bennett has worked closely with the Grammy-nominated artist MGMT, both on the road as their live sound engineer and in the studio, recording the band's sophomore release Congratulations. During his almost 15 year career as a recording engineer and producer, Bennett has recorded hundreds of bands, with credits that include The Drive-By Truckers, The Whigs, Fly Golden Eagle, Dead Confederate, Kuroma, Nikki Sudden, and many more. Bennett also served as the house engineer at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville from 2014-2016, where owner Andrija Tokic schooled Bennett on the wonders of all-analog recording. While in Nasvhille, Bennett started The Middle Tennessee Post Modern Experimental Pop Band which has recently released their first full-length album. He is currently based in Brooklyn, NY, where he is pursuing a Master's Degree in Interactive Media at NYU’s ITP program.
